Welcome to the Night  Owls!

The Junior Woman’s Club of Raleigh

We’re a unique fusion of the Junior Woman’s Club of Raleigh and The Woman’s Club of Raleigh, catering to women under 45 and women of any age who prefer evening club meetings and volunteer opportunities.

Our purpose is to maintain an organized center for study, training for citizenship, and sound development among the women of Raleigh, and to equip them for service in the community.

About the Junior Woman’s Club of Raleigh

The Junior Woman’s Club of Raleigh (JWC of Raleigh) was founded with 20 charter members in 1928 under the auspices of the Woman’s Club of Raleigh.  The Club was incorporated in 1949.

Through the years, the Club has been responsible for many groundbreaking projects in the Raleigh area including funding the salaries of several Wake County teachers, advocating to have a World War II bomber named after the state of North Carolina, initiating a city-wide drive for fluoridation in the Raleigh water supply, sponsoring a “Stop Measles Campaign” which provided measles vaccinations to 26,000 school children, and planting over 30,000 trees for a county-wide reforestation project.

The Junior Woman’s Club of Raleigh is a diverse group of singles, spouses, students, professionals, working mothers, and moms who stay at home. Membership in JWC of Raleigh is open to women between the ages of 18 and 45, regardless of race, creed, or nationality.

We continue to serve our community through meaningful programs and projects, which include providing backpacks full of educational and art supplies for children, organizing a local arts festival for school children, providing refreshments at the Governor’s State Tree Lighting Ceremony at the North Carolina State Capitol Building each December, and awarding annual need-based scholarships for students.
