Description

Arts CSP. Local Arts Festival. Hope you are putting some finishing touches on your entries for the Woman’s Club of Raleigh Arts Festival. Remember Club Women as well as Middle and High School Students are invited to enter. Submit entries between noon and 2:00 pm. The event will end around 9:00 pm. We need VOLUNTEERS to staff the Registration table, log entries and bring snacks. Please contact Pat Nelson at 765-426-1128. Questions about categories, to help, etc. Clubwoman Categories that you can enter are:

    • Craft Contest Categories: Ceramics: hand built or wheel thrown only, Metal Craft: Enameling, sculpture, wire craft, etc., Paper Craft: Paper Mache, paper sculpture, quilling, 3-D elevations, and decoupage, Nature Craft: Dried flowers, pinecones, painting on rocks, corn shucks, driftwood, shells, etc., Fabric Craft: Quilts, stuffed toys, wall hangings, etc., Basic and Creative Stitchery: Needlepoint, embroidery, counted cross stitch,  Crochet/Knitting, Jewelry: Any single medium or combination and more.

    • Literature Contest Categories: One-act play/skit of 30 to 45 minutes in length, Short story limited to 2,000 words, Poetry – any style with a minimum length of eight lines and maximum of 50 lines. Awards will be given for: Best Lyric, Best Narrative, Best Sonnet, An Overall Best will be selected from among the poetry category winners, and Essay on any subject, limited to 5000 words.

    • Photography: World in Pictures: Living Things, Scenes, Still Life. GFWC Volunteers in Action, A Year in Pictures.

    • Visual Arts Contest Categories: Oil, Acrylic, Charcoal, Pastel, Pen and Ink, Watercolor, Pencil

 The 1st place winners at this local event sponsored with the Junior Woman’s Club or Raleigh advance to the District competition on Feb 10th here in Raleigh. The 1st Place winners there go on to compete at the State level on March 3rd at Campbell University in Buies Creek.
